Stripped Stolen Dodge Challenger Found On Trailer
It takes a special kind of criminal genius to throw a stripped Dodge Challenger on a trailer, put a loose-fitting tarp over it, then drive down the road in broad daylight. That’s what two men did in Nashville, Tennessee recently and they attracted the attention of some Violent Crimes detectives.
These are the 10 weirdest traffic ticket excuses.
That’s hardly a surprise, considering having an obviously stripped car that’s a popular target of car thieves is a huge red flag. The two men, 31-year-old Jeremy Smith and 29-year-old Tyler Whitney, apparently thought they wouldn’t attract the attention of law enforcement because they didn’t even have a good story about the car.

According to Nashville Metro Police, Smith, who was driving the truck pulling the trailer, told detectives at first he just found the stripped Dodge on the side of the road, loaded it onto the trailer, and drove off with it.
Probably realizing that was a dumb story, he changed it again and again. That’s always a sure sign you’re dealing with deception. Detectives kept pressing the man until he told them where he picked the Mopar muscle car up.

They went to the address on Cane Ridge Road, finding the location was a garage. We’re not sure if that means it was a seemingly legitimate car repair shop or just an empty garage. After getting a search warrant, detectives found the parts stripped from the Challenger.
We see chop shops sometimes operated at car repair shops. It’s the perfect cover since nobody thinks anything of cars being dropped off there or pieces being taken off and stored on the property. Plus, trucks with components come by mechanics’ shops all the time.
Thanks to the criminal geniuses who poorly covered an obviously stripped Dodge Challenger, the chop shop was busted. There are many others out there in Nashville, we’re sure, but hopefully police can track down more and put a dent in the illegal trade.
