Peshawar: (Report by Fatima Jafar) According to global times news agency Europe, Dr. Syed Muhammad Ilyas, CEO Paraplegic Center Peshawar (PCP), has urged students of professional colleges and universities to gain foolproof proficiency in information technology, especially in software applications, to enhance their creativity. He was addressing the concluding session of one-day workshop on the use of social sciences applications (SSAs) organized by the College of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (CPMR) at the PCP’s anatomy lab. The workshop was well attended by the students, while the college’s Research Coordinator, Dr. Iftikhar Ali, delivered comprehensive lecture on two medical education and research apps, SPSS and EndNote. Practical sessions also conducted by the students.Dr. Ilyas Syed emphasized that taking advantage of IT in all medical science fields, including physiotherapy, is need of the time. Students, educators, and researchers can revolutionize medical research by mastering these applications as well as can introduce more user-friendly applications, opening new paths of competition and innovation in these fields. He added that by using modern technology for the analysis and diagnosis of diseases, along with reference and research fields, our students can play pivotal role in improving national health all and sundry. Furthermore, he maintained, they can make Pakistan proud by introducing new trends in the world of medical applications.Dr. Muhammad Ilyas also highlighted the need to promote indigenous technology in all fields to turn the backwardness of the Muslim countries into prosperity, as the excessive use of Western technology, despite its benefits, is leading us toward collective downfall, he concluded.
