Sunday update: What time is the snowstorm expected to start in Cincinnati.

Winter Storm Blair is expected to hit Greater Cincinnati Sunday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington.

The region will see snow mainly after 1 p.m., according to the weather service’s forecast issued on Saturday evening.

Heavy snow is expected at times from late Sunday afternoon through Sunday night. A mix of sleet and freezing rain may also impact the region. The snow is expected to stop Monday.

The National Weather Service also forecasts wind gusts of up to 30 mph on Monday, according to a post from the agency on X.

Following Winter Storm Blair, blistering temperatures are expected to affect Greater Cincinnati. On Saturday, the National Weather Service forecast wind chills near zero degrees for each night Tuesday through Friday.

The service previously issued a Winter Storm Warning to be in effect from Sunday at 10 a.m. to midnight Monday night. The winter storm warning was issued at 3:15 a.m. Saturday for the following counties:

Franklin, Ripley, Dearborn, Ohio and Switzerland counties in Indiana.
Boone, Kenton and Campbell counties in Kentucky.
Butler, Warren, Clinton, Ross, Hamilton, Clermont, Brown, Highland, Adams, Pike and Scioto counties in Ohio.

The weather service is warning drivers that travel may be very difficult and hazardous conditions may impact Monday morning and evening commutes.

How much snow is Cincinnati going to get?

The weather service’s forecast from late Saturday afternoon indicated the region may receive snow and sleet accumulations between 5 and 10 inches from Sunday morning to Monday night. Heavy mixed precipitation is expected, as well as ice up to a tenth of an inch.

Roads will likely be slippery in Cincinnati due to Winter Storm Blair. The National Weather Service is encouraging drivers to drive slowly and use caution. They also advise people to watch their steps on stairs, sidewalks and driveways, as these surfaces could be slippery and increase one’s risk of falling.

The weather service said if you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.
