EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A 17-year-old boy has been identified after he died in a crash last Friday, July 5, in far East El Paso, according to El Paso Police.

Police say Joseph Flores Jr., 17, was driving westbound on the 13000 block of Montana at around 1:30 a.m. that Friday.

Flores was driving at a high rate of speed and lost control of the vehicle. Police say the vehicle struck the right-hand curb, rolled over, and collided with a large pole.

Police say Flores died at the scene and speeding may be a contributing factor in this collision.

This is the 35th traffic fatality this year in the El Paso city limits compared to 39 at this time last year.
