A teenage male driver is accused of shooting a firearm in southeast Watertown on Thursday night, according to the Watertown Police Department.
At approximately 10:40 p.m. Dec. 26, Watertown police received a report of gunshots in southeast Watertown. Witnesses told police they saw a blue Ford pickup heading away from the scene. Officers quickly located the suspect vehicle, and a traffic stop was initiated, the report said. The police apprehended the driver without incident.
A search of the vehicle revealed several loaded firearms, 9 mm ammunition, open alcohol containers and marijuana, according to the police report. During the investigation, it was discovered that the 19-year-old male from Duncanville, Texas, had allegedly discharged his firearm multiple times after a verbal altercation at the scene, the police report states.

No injuries or property damage were reported as a result of the gunshots.
The suspect was arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault, reckless discharge of a firearm, loaded firearm in possession while intoxicated, DUI, possession of marijuana, underage possession ofrobacco, underage consumption of alcohol and an open container in a motor vehicle, according to the report. The teen is being held at the Codington County Detention Center on a $5,000 cash bond.
The Codington County Sheriff’s Office and the South Dakota Highway Patrol assisted with the investigation. This incident is currently under investigation.
