February half-term is nearly upon us and you might be longing for a sunny getaway if you haven’t got a holiday booked already.
Last minute holidays abroad can be expensive, but if you’re willing to be flexible with dates you can find some cheaper options. For example, if you avoid travelling on key days like Saturdays and Sundays you can save money on airfares.
The Canary Islands are a top holiday destination among families, especially for winter sun. The Spanish archipelago enjoys glorious weather all year round, with temperatures rarely dropping below 20C.

Tenerife is one of the best-known thanks to its amazing beaches, stunning landscapes and bustling resorts. The island enjoys highs of up to 22C in February, with temperatures even reaching the mid 20s.
Skyscanner shows adult flights from £36 one way from Manchester Airport to Tenerife on Monday, February 17. A return ticket on Thursday 20 costs £92. It may be a short trip but but if you wait one more day this goes up but £100. Yet even a few nights away can feel like a much-needed break from daily life.
A major draw for kids are the island’s theme parks and attractions. Siam Park is an impressive Thai-inspired waterpark, near the popular resort of Las Americas.
Aqualand is the second-largest waterpark after Siam park. It’s more popular among families with younger kids.

Or head to Jungle Park, a large zoological and botanical park located in southern Tenerife, which is home to around 500 species of animals.
Those with older kids may want to venture inland and discover Mount Teide, the volcano which dominates Tenerife’s skyline.
Of course, a visit to the beach is bound to make every member of the family happy. Among the island ‘s best beaches are Playa de las Teresitas near Santa Cruz and Playa de las Vistas in Los Cristianos.
