Drivers in Central Indiana are used to seeing road construction projects as they commute from place to place, especially driving in Indianapolis. While 2024 was a busy year for the Indianapolis Department of Public Works the next 12 months are just as packed with roads, ramps and bridges being built or rehabilitated.

The bridge has spanned White River for decades but it is overdue for repairs, according to the city. The bridge is set to close next summer. The hope is to extend the life of the historic arch bridge and improve the aesthetics by addressing the spalling concrete in the arches, corbels and bridge deck.
