You probably saw former President Barack Obama almost instantly go viral when taking a jab at former President Donald Trump during his speech at the DNC. He made a joke about his successor’s “weird obsession with crowd sizes.” *Crowd roars.*
Trump first started making comments about crowd sizes the day after his inauguration in 2017.
He claimed the media had misrepresented the amount of people present by showing gaps in the crowd. Trump said it looked like there were “a million and a half people” there.
More recently, Trump wrote on Truth Social that Vice President Kamala Harris misrepresented the crowd size at her rally in Michigan, writing, “Has anyone noticed that Kamala CHEATED at the airport? There was nobody at the plane, and she A.I.’d it, and showed a massive ‘crowd’ of so-called followers, BUT THEY DIDN’T EXIST!”
The Harris campaign fired back on X, formerly Twitter, sharing a photo from the rally and claiming, “Trump has still not campaigned in a swing state in over a week… low energy?”
So here are side-by-side photos of campaign rallies that illustrate the crowd sizes in critical battleground states:
