This Vineland man gets a prison term for decades-old sex crimes against children

A 56-year-old Vineland man has received a 25-year prison term for sex offenses that occurred more than two decades ago.

Christopher A. Bonner was accused of sexual misconduct with two juveniles younger than the age of 13 “on a regular basis between approximately 1993 and 2002,” according to the Cumberland County Prosecutor’s Office. The crimes occurred in Vineland.

A jury in August 2024 found him guilty of one count of aggravated sexual assault and two charges of sexual assault. It acquitted Bonner of four sex-assault allegations, the prosecutor’s office said in a statement.

Superior Court Judge Joseph Chiarello sentenced Bonner to a 17-year term for aggravated sexual assault, with no parole eligibility for 15 years. That is to be followed by an eight-year term for the sexual assault crimes.

Bonner must register as a sex offender when he leaves prison and is to remain under parole supervision for life, the prosecutor’s statement said.
