Timeline update for Broncos' upcoming contract extensions

The Denver Broncos have five players in line for big contract extensions, but fans shouldn't expect any deals to get done within the next month.

The Broncos "do not plan to delve into contract extension negotiations" until after the 2025 NFL draft, according to the Denver Gazette's Chris Tomasson. This year's draft will be held in Wisconsin from April 24-26, and Denver's front office will be focused on rookies over the next few weeks.

Last year, the Broncos gave extensions to guard Quinn Meinerz (July), cornerback Pat Surtain (September), outside linebacker Jonathon Cooper (November) and left tackle Garett Bolles (December).

This year, the list of players deserving of extensions includes defensive lineman Zach Allen, pass rusher Nik Bonitto, wide receiver Courtland Sutton and defensive linemen John Franklin-Myers and Malcolm Roach.

First things first, though, Denver is focused on the NFL draft. The Broncos hold seven selections this year, including the 20th overall pick in the first round.
