TotalEnergies has awarded a contract to SLB’s OneSubsea joint venture for the Kaminho deep-water project offshore Angola.

The contract is for a 13-well subsea production system including associated equipment and services.

The French oil and gas major and its partners in the block aim to develop the Kaminho project in two phases, focusing on the Cameia and Golfinho discoveries within Block 20/11.

During the first phase, which is targeting the Cameia field, SLB OneSubsea will work alongside TotalEnergies to implement a configurable subsea production platform.

This system will feature standardised vertical monobore subsea trees, wellheads and control systems designed for optimal efficiency.

The project is anticipated to generate more than ten million man-hours in Angola, with a focus on offshore operations and local yard construction.

SLB OneSubsea’s local support in Angola will encompass a wide range of offshore operations including assembly, module manufacturing, installation, commissioning and life-of-field services.

Targeting first production by 2028, the Kaminho project is expected to yield an estimated 70,000 barrels of oil per day.

Besides SLB, OneSubsea, which has a global workforce of 10,000, is backed by Aker Solutions and Subsea7.

SLB OneSubsea CEO Mads Hjelmeland said: “We are excited for this opportunity to unlock the large potential of the Kaminho project together with TotalEnergies. Our collaborative contract model enables us to leverage both standardisation and highly configurable subsea production platforms, creating greater efficiencies and long-term value for this and future projects in Angola and around the world.”

This contract follows a ten-year partnership between SLB and TotalEnergies to develop next-generation digital solutions aimed at enhancing energy resource access, boosting performance and increasing efficiency.

The initial focus of this collaboration will be on subsurface digital solutions, with special attention given to reservoir engineering and geoscience modelling and interpretation.
