(KRON) — Daniel Islas-Ortiz, 22, is suspected of driving under the influence (DUI) after he crashed and flipped his car in Petaluma on Friday night. The Petaluma Police Department received reports of the crash near the West Street and Eden Lane intersection at about 9:52 p.m.

Police received calls of a car that flipped to its side and that the driver, Ortiz, was still trapped in his vehicle. Both patrol and DUI enforcement officers arrived at the scene. A crew from the Petaluma Fire Department also arrived, and they were able to extract the 22-year-old away from the car.

Once he was removed from the car, “officers noticed objective signs of alcohol intoxication and conducted a DUI investigation. Police said it was determined that Ortiz was driving under the influence with a blood alcohol level “over double the legal limit.”

Ortiz was arrested for DUI and was later booked in the Sonoma County Jail, PPD said.
