ST. LOUIS – After reviewing the latest forecast from the National Weather Service, the Missouri Department of Transportation is urging drivers to continue to stay off the roadways and avoid traveling on Monday.
Drifting snow and ice accumulations will make it “impossible” to travel, according to the NWS.
Snowfall is expected to continue into Monday, so even as MoDOT plows clear roads and highways, wind gusts will limit visibility and blow snow back onto roadways.

With ice accumulation and cloud cover, it will take longer to treat and clear the roads.

“Motorists in the areas of snow and ice accumulation cannot let their guards down once this precipitation ends,” MoDOT Chief Safety and Operations Officer Becky Allmeroth said. “It’s going to take our crews most of Monday to get major routes in these impacted areas back to good condition, so we need people to continue to avoid traveling.”
The transportation department has more than 1,500 snow trucks operating across the state and crews working 12-hour shifts.
