Chinese solar photovoltaic (PV) module-maker Trinasolar has announced a partnership with AMEA Power to deploy its Elementa 2 platform for the 300MWh Abydos Solar PV project in Egypt.
The Abydos Battery Energy Storage Project is claimed to be Egypt’s first to deploy a utility-scale battery energy storage solution (BESS).
It is said to represent a major expansion of the existing 500MW solar power plant in Kom Ombo, Aswan Governorate.
Trinasolar’s Elementa 2 platform has features such as vertically integrated LFP cells, a module design for increased energy density, compatibility with various PCS systems, smart liquid cooling, and advanced safety systems.
Trinasolar global sales vice-president and MEA MU head Vincent Wu said: “This groundbreaking project highlights Trinasolar’s vital role in driving innovation, ensuring safety, and supporting the region’s transition to a more sustainable and dependable energy future.
“We are proud to contribute to such a transformative endeavour, bringing clean energy to Egypt and setting a benchmark for utility-scale energy storage solutions in North Africa.”
The Abydos Solar PV project combines renewable energy and advanced storage technology to improve grid stability and support the region’s sustainable energy transition, according to the company.
AMEA Power chairman Hussain Al Nowais said: “AMEA Power is dedicated to advancing renewable energy projects that make a significant impact.
“The integration of Trinasolar’s innovative Elementa 2 technology at the Abydos Solar PV Project represents a key step forward in Egypt’s energy landscape and exemplifies the power of collaboration in achieving sustainability goals.”
Trinasolar delivers smart solar and energy storage solutions for a sustainable future.
“Trinasolar to supply Elementa 2 platform for Egypt’s Abydos Solar PV project” was originally created and published by Power Technology, a GlobalData owned brand.
