Tropical Depression 7 forms over the Eastern Atlantic: NHC

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Tropical Depression Seven has formed over the eastern Atlantic, the National Hurricane Center said.

Located 310 miles west of the Cabo Verde Islands, the tropical depression is currently moving toward the west-northwest at about 18 mph.

Strengthening is possible in the next 48 hours, The tropical depression could develop into a tropical storm Wednesday night or Thursday, according to NHC.

If the tropical depression becomes a tropical storm it will be named Gordon.

A chance of development is 90% in the next seven days.
