Tropical Storm Debby is expected to become a hurricane by Sunday night before making landfall Monday morning, according to the National Hurricane Center.

Strengthening is expected to continue in the Gulf of Mexico and hurricane watches have been issued for a portion of Florida’s west coast.

Gov. Ron DeSantis expanded a state of emergency to 61 of Florida’s 67 counties Friday and activated the Florida National Guard ahead of the storm.
