The day after Donald Trump’s re-election, various financial markets surged with great enthusiasm. Some individuals increased their wealth by billions of dollars, including Elon Musk, whose wealth increased by $26.5 billion. Not a bad haul for a guy who bet on Trump.
Millions of other Americans who were fortunate enough to hold substantial stock portfolios also profited from this market windfall, regardless of their political affiliation. They were also celebrating.
Now let’s take a look at the millions of working-class folks who typically do not have the resources to accumulate a stock portfolio. On that day, they were left empty handed and the gap between the wealthy and the working-class grew even wider. These individuals struggle each and every day to make ends meet, paying for groceries, rent or mortgage, and other commodities.

Letters: Republicans can’t have it both ways on election fairness. Please remember this.
Interestingly enough, it was this group who largely propelled Trump to victory, believing that once Trump assumes office their financial woes will soon improve. Economic patterns tell us otherwise, and the cost of living is driven by multiple factors.
Hopefully, the working class haven’t been duped!
