Nov. 24—FARGO — State troopers arrested two people on suspicion of driving under the influence in separate afternoon incidents on Interstate 94 this weekend, with one suspect also facing assault and other charges.
In both cases, the drivers were removed from the roadway after other drivers recognized the danger and called law enforcement, the North Dakota Highway Patrol said in a news release.
In the first incident at around 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 23, a trooper responded to a report of a vehicle driving recklessly on eastbound I-94.

The trooper stopped the vehicle approximately four miles east of Medina, and identified the driver as Angelo White, 37, of New Town, North Dakota.
White was determined to be under the influence of alcohol. During the arrest, White assaulted the trooper for several minutes until backup assistance arrived, the patrol said.
A Foster County Sheriff’s deputy stopped to help and was also assaulted by White, the patrol said. Other troopers and Stutsman County deputies arrived several minutes later and White was taken into custody.
White faces misdemeanor and felony charges including DUI, two counts of simple assault on an officer, resisting arrest, contact with bodily fluids against law enforcement and driving with a suspended license. He is being held in the Stutsman County Jail.
