A man and a woman were arrested in Sydney after NSW Police found 6.5 tonnes (7.17 US tons) of what officers think was 1,4-Butanediol, also known as bute, worth about AUD$132 million ($83 million).
According to NSW Police, on Monday, February 24, officers found about five litres (1.3 gallons) of a prohibited drug, believed to be bute, in Croydon, as well as an additional 225 kg (496 pounds) in Silverwater.
The following day, 23 litres (six gallons) were discovered in Rhodes, and 6.3 tonnes (6.9 US tons) in Homebush.
A 27-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday and appeared before court on Thursday.
A 28-year-old woman was also arrested on Tuesday after police found about AUD$28,000 (17,600) in cash at an Ashfield address where the woman was located at the time of the search. She was released without charge on the same day, before police arrested her again on Wednesday and charged her for taking part in the supply of a prohibited drug.

Both individuals were refused bail to appear before Burwood Local Court, according to police.
