Two Idaho residents jailed as Centralia police seize drugs, firearms

Jan. 4—The Centralia Police Department arrested two Idaho residents on Friday after receiving information that they, along with one other person, were attempting to sell firearms and marijuana, according to a news release from the department.

Ariana E. Clark and Garrett R. Severson, both 23, were arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail after officers “coordinated the return of the suspects” to Centralia “under the guise that the trio would be able to sell the firearms and controlled substances in their possession,” according to the release.

No information was released on the third suspect.

At about noon on Friday, “Centralia patrol officers received the report that a female and two males were in Centralia attempting to sell firearms and large amounts of marijuana,” according to the release. “Utilizing Flock Safety cameras, officers investigated the vehicle that the subjects were driving and developed suspicion that it may be an unreported stolen vehicle, as the owner was out of state and on vacation.”

The vehicle was later confirmed to have been stolen during a reported carjacking that occurred in Meridian, Idaho, according to the release.

Clark and Severson were arrested after officers conducted a traffic stop of their vehicle as they returned to Centralia to complete the sale, police said.

A search warrant was executed on the vehicle, which led to the discovery of two semi-automatic rifles, a shotgun, four semi-automatic handguns — one of which was a non-serialized “ghost gun”) — and ammunition, according to the release.

“At this time, one of the firearms has been confirmed to be stolen, and the origin of the other firearms is currently under investigation,” police stated. “Additionally, a large quantity of marijuana and quantities of other narcotics were discovered in the vehicle.”

Clark and Severson are both expected to face charges of possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of a stolen firearm and conspiracy to deliver a controlled substance. Severson, a convicted felon, is also facing a charge of unlawful possession of a firearm.”

Additional charges could be added.

“We would like to express our gratitude to our partners at the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office and the Washington State Patrol for assisting in the safe apprehension of these dangerous suspects,” Centralia police stated in the release. “The community is safer when we work together.”
