A woman says she was left stunned after an Uber Eats rider stamped on her Chinese order and shouted “you won’t be getting your food.”
Police have been notified following the incident which was captured on camera. The delivery customer Hannah had placed a £30 lunch order with Uber Eats for food to be delivered from Maggie Fu in Liverpool city centre on Monday (September 2).
After placing the order, Hannah says she was contacted by a delivery rider asking for her postcode. In messages, the content of which have been reported by the Liverpool Echo, Hannah told the delivery rider he would receive her address once he had collected the order, to which he replied “I need to know how far it is.”

“You haven’t picked my order up. It shouldn’t depend on distance. You can follow Uber’s procedure” she replied. “Unless you’ve got my order you don’t need to know where I am. That’s how it works with Uber: she told the Echo.
When Hannah went outside to collect her order, she realised the delivery man was different to who was pictured on the app. She claims he crossed the street and started “shouting” at her for no reason saying “distance does matter”.
She said: “He started telling me that I don’t pay him, Uber pays him. I just kept asking if I could have my food. I was being really calm, which made him more angry.
“I gave him the pin, which he took. Because he’d put the pin in, my order said it had been delivered. He then started telling me, ‘you’re not getting your food’.”
The man proceeded to put Hannah’s delivery back in his bag, but it fell to the floor when he didn’t close the bag properly. “That’s when I started laughing at him. Then he got even more angry and started stomping on my food”, Hannah said.
In the video of the incident, Hannah can be heard saying “there’s my food on the floor. You didn’t do it properly did you” as the rider starts to get on his bike to cycle away. He can then be seen stamping on the food as he says “There you go, you won’t be getting your food”.
Hannah went back inside and received a text from the delivery driver which read: “I’ve arrived”. She responded to his text with: “That’s all been recorded and reported including you stomping on my food outside. Disgusting violent behaviour,” to which the delivery rider responded: “Good luck haha.”
Hannah contacted Uber to report the issue and request a refund, which they gave her. A message from Uber in response to Hannah’s concerns said: “The behaviour you have described is certainly concerning. Rest assured, we take these kinds of allegations very seriously and we will be taking the appropriate actions internally with the delivery partner involved.
“As of this message we have also made some changes in the application to reduce the chance of you being paired with this delivery partner in the future.
If you are ever matched again, please cancel the order and reach out to us through the application. We want all users to have a safe, respectful, and comfortable experience as stated in our Uber Community Guidelines.”
The message added: “Thanks for letting us know that the delivery person did not match the profile shown in your app. We understand this may have been unsettling.
“Delivery people are independent contractors and can have someone else complete a delivery if eligible. The original delivery person remains responsible for the deliver.”
She said: “Luckily I don’t live here, I’m just staying here at the minute. But what if it was my house? People like that shouldn’t be delivery drivers.”
Merseyside Police confirmed the incident was reported to them at around 12.15pm on Monday, September 2. A police spokesperson added: “Enquiries are ongoing to identify whether a crime has been committed.” Uber Eats have been approached for comment.
