United Supermarkets and Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages partnered to purchase more than 1,000 trout to restock the lake at McCullough Park in Lubbock.
With help from the City of Lubbock and Texas Parks and Wildlife, anglers across Lubbock will have an opportunity to fish a newly stocked lake near 88th Street and Flint Avenue, according to a news release from United.
On Dec. 10, representatives with The United Family, Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages, the City of Lubbock and Texas Parks and Wildlife along with community members gathered to relocate the trout to their new home.

Wes Graves, store director for United Supermarkets on 82nd and Boston Avenue, was the driving force behind United’s involvement in this donation. He and his son, Fisher, are part of the fishing community in Lubbock and hope this gets folks out of the house and into nature.
“We are thrilled to have the opportunity to participate with several organizations to help make this happen for our neighbors,” Graves said. “There is a huge community of people who love to fish in Lubbock, and we hope this gives kids and adults alike a reason to get out of the house and into nature.”
