BBC Radio 2 presenter Vernon Kay jokingly begged Scott Mills not to block him live on the airwaves this morning, after he was the bearer of bad news.
Having recently had a music lesson from percussionist Alasdair Malloy, Scott, 51, expressed his desires to play the triangle for one of the artists performing as part of the Piano Room sessions this month.
During the pair’s exchange on air on Thursday however, Vernon said that the spot had unfortunately been taken by their colleague Ellie.

The 50-year-old host began by highlighting that the Piano Room artists, such as Teddy Swims and Natasha Bedingfield, had seemingly all “passed the baton” on to have Scott play for them.
After many suggested that Gary Barlow may allow him in the studio for his session, Vernon said: “The thing is Scott, I’ve had a word with the team, Phil, Janice and Janine.
“I’ve had a word with Gary as well and, actually, well, there’s only space for one person to come down, it’s busy here, it’s absolutely packed.
“They’ve been waiting outside Maida Vale Studios since 5am to see the big fella GB.”
Vernon went on to say after a “collective vote”, the team had chosen Ellie to play the triangle instead.
In response, Scott said: “Is that why she’s gone early?!,” to which Vernon confirmed was correct.

Seeming disappointed, the BBC Radio 2 Breakfast host replied: “Alright, well you carry on then,” which prompted Vernon to apologise.
“No it’s alright, no it’s fine, absolutely fine, I’ll speak to you tomorrow,” the presenter continued.
Vernon went on to jokingly plead: “Don’t block me, sorry Scott,” to which the latter said he’d speak to him off-air.
After handing over to Vernon, the presenter went on to say: “I feel a bit awkward,” before he went on to apologise to Scott again.
The Scott Mills Breakfast Show airs weekdays from 6.30am on BBC Radio 2, followed by Vernon Kay’s mid-morning show at 9.30am.
