KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (KMID/KPEJ) – A woman remains missing after falling into a sinkhole that opened up on a sidewalk in the Jalan Masjid India area of Kuala Lumpur, Friday morning.
Photos from the Kuala Lumpur Fire Service showed the search-and-rescue efforts, which were still ongoing late Friday night. The woman, a 48-year-old Indian national, was believed to have fallen about eight meters, or about 26.25 feet, into the sinkhole, according to fire officials.

According to The Star, the woman was a tourist who was due to return home to India the following day. Police said a strong current flowing under where the sinkhole appeared was hampering the operation.
