ST. PAUL – Minnesota Wild President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Bill Guerin said on KFAN Radio on Friday that Kirill Kaprizov is likely going to be out longer than expected.
“We think he’s gonna be out longer than we expected. How much longer I can’t answer,” Guerin said. “He’s recovering right now and we’ll see how it turns out. He was having a Hart Trophy season, I’d be frustrated too.”
Guerin said a few days before Kaprizov was set to get surgery on his lower-body injury that Kaprizov would be out for a minimum of four weeks.
That was a hair over three weeks ago to this day. Kaprizov has yet to skate so that four week minimum timetable looks like it will be extended.
“Surgery is required,” Guerin said back in Late January. “Like I said, this is not a season-ending situation. It’s just something that really needs to be tended to. Like I said: Week to week. I’d say probably a minimum of four, and we’ll just go from there. It’s tough to say.”
The Wild originally gave Kaprizov a day-to-day timetable when he was first hurt after Christmas break. But that turned into a month and a total of 12 games missed.
