Former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris will go head to head in Philadelphia on Tuesday night in their first presidential debate.

While the ABC-hosted debate is the second debate of the 2024 election season, it will be Harris’s first in-person verbal spar with Trump since taking on the mantle of as the Democratic presidential nominee after President Joe Biden bowed out of the race amid calls to step aside after his first presidential debate with Trump in June.

This debate is an opportunity for both candidates to help secure voters for the general election on Nov. 5. For Harris, whose campaign just started in July, it is a way for her to introduce herself to undecided voters who are wondering more about her and what she plans to achieve if she wins the White House.

As for Trump, it could be the momentum that he needs to push the polls back in his favor after Harris pulled ahead after Biden dropped out right before the Democratic National Convention.
