Where to get a Thanksgiving meal in Anchorage

Nov. 23—There are a lot of things you can be thankful for this holiday season, and not having to cook a turkey dinner is an item you can add to your list. Several restaurants and community venues are open to serve Thanksgiving dinner. Others have takeout options for Thanksgiving meals. Some community events are even free for all to enjoy.

USUAA Fall Feast — The USUAA Student Government’s annual meal is free and open to the public. Donations go to the UAA Food Insecurity Fund. The meal is Tuesday, Nov. 26, from 4:30-7:30 p.m. in the Gorsuch Commons, 3700 Sharon Gagnon Lane.

Bean’s Cafe — Bean’s Cafe will be hosting a free Thanksgiving meal for anyone in need. The dinner is served from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 28, at 1020 E. Fourth Ave. Donations are accepted for Bean’s work toward food insecurity.

Food Bank of Alaska — The Food Bank’s Thanksgiving Blessing program has been distributing holiday meals for more than 20 years. There are five distribution centers in the Mat-Su that will be open Saturday starting at 10 a.m., and six will be open in Anchorage on Monday starting at 2 p.m. Visit the Food Bank website for full details on schedules and locations.

Kriner’s Diner — For the 12th year, Kriner’s Diner is offering a free Thanksgiving meal from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. It’s drive-thru and any donations will go to The Children’s Lunchbox.

Simon & Seafort’s — The downtown Anchorage restaurant is offering both dine-in and takeaway options. Orders must be placed by 4 p.m. Friday. Pick-up is available Nov. 27-28. 420 L St., 907-274-3502, 11:30 a.m.-9 p.m.

Golden Corral — The buffet chain has to-go meals as well as regular restaurant hours. Must order 72 hours in advance for to-go option. 4520 Union Square Drive, 907-563-9000, 11 a.m.-8 p.m.

Sullivan’s Steakhouse — The eatery is open for dine-in and has takeout and delivery options for eating at home. Preorder until Tuesday, Nov. 26, and pick up 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Nov. 27, or 9-11 a.m. Nov. 28. 320 W. Fifth Ave., 907-258-2882, 11 a.m.-8 p.m.
