Olympia police seek information about the shooting of a 21-year-old woman earlier this month in west Olympia.
About 1:45 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 11, a man and woman were sitting up against a building in the 300 block of Cooper Point Road Northwest, at a shopping center near the corner with Harrison Avenue in west Olympia.
A passerby saw a large amount of blood around both the man and woman and called 911, thinking the woman was trying to harm herself. Police and a crisis response unit were dispatched to the scene, Police Lt. Paul Lower said.
When they arrived, they could see the 31-year-old man trying to help the woman whose leg was bleeding.
It was clear she had a hole in her leg, so she was transported to Providence St. Peter Hospital where they confirmed she had been shot, Lower said.
So far police think someone drove by that address and shot the woman in the leg.
Lower said the man and woman have cooperated with police and are not aware of any disputes with another party that may have triggered the shooting.
“We have little information,” Lower said.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Olympia police at 360-753-8300.
