Nothing speaks louder in the contemporary American political landscape than a silent Whoopi Goldberg collapse over an agonizing Hot Topics discussion on The View.
Just four full months into the year, 2025 has already hosted a record number of Full Goldberg Collapse™ moments at the talk show’s table, with the EGOT-winning actress’ latest fall backward into her seat arising during a chat about the Donald Trump administration’s response to public reaction to his controversial tariffs.
Goldberg kicked off the show by lamenting Trump’s approval ratings after his first 100 days in office, before segueing into video footage of a press conference hours prior, related to Amazon’s recent reaction to tariffs leading to increased prices on some of its items.
“Just this morning, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt responded to Amazon’s new policy about his tariffs and made this plea to voters,” Goldberg said, teeing up a video in which Leavitt told reporters, “Trust in President Trump. There’s a reason he was re-elected to this office; It’s because of the historic success of his economic formula in the first term.”
After a reporter at the press conference pointed out that the online retailer will now display a number next to the price of each product that shows how much Trump’s tariffs are adding to prices, Leavitt called the move “hostile and political.”
When the show’s camera cut back to Goldberg in the room, she was fully lying back in her chair, her eyes to the ceiling as she feigned unconsciousness over the development.

Whoopi Goldberg falls back into her chair during agonizing discussion on ‘The View’
“Come back, Whoopi!” Joy Behar pleaded, while Alyssa Farah Griffin sounded the alarm: “We lost Whoop!”
Her cohosts’ pleas seemingly revived her, as she then snapped back to life with a confused look on her face.
“I don’t even know what to say to this,” Goldberg admitted, before letting her colleagues carry the conversation to new territory.

Panelist Sara Haines rerouted the Hot Topic, countering Goldberg’s glorious bodily expression with a verbal assessment.
“When you have people turning to Amazon and all of a sudden the prices are jacked up, I actually think it’s transparency to say, ‘This wasn’t us,'” Haines said. “And if President Trump believes this was such a great idea, he should just own it and be proud of it rather than being disgraced when people know about it.”
The View airs weekdays at 11 a.m. ET/10 a.m. PT on ABC.
