Will Elon Musk make Americans happier, more prosperous? Um, no. | Letters

What is Elon Musk’s game?

I don’t remember voting for Elon Musk.

Now he’s dictating a rejection of a bipartisan agreement to vote for a continuing resolution on the budget, telling legislators if they don’t follow his orders, they will be primaried.

He is using his billions to change the course of our country through bullying and greed. What is his goal?

To make America a happier, more prosperous country for all Americans? No.

It’s to get even richer while stripping hard-working Americans of services they need and have worked for: child tax credits, safe working conditions, clean water, safe schools, good health care, equal treatment before the law, a living wage and truth from those who represent them.

Or should.

Enough pretending this is acceptable.

It makes a mockery of those who voted for Donald Trump and those who didn’t.

He is drunk on billionaires. Wretched values. Not a leader of a nation. Congress must stand up to those who don’t have a clue what it’s like for workers.

Who can LGBTQ+ youth trust?

The Trevor Project found that 39% of LGBTQ+ youth seriously considered suicide in 2023. However, we know that when a young person can talk with at least one adult, the risk of attempting suicide decreases.

Because it is easier to face the rejection of a teacher than the possible rejection of a parent, many students first talk with a teacher before finding the courage to talk with their parents. I saw this many times during my 43 years of teaching.

House Bill 8, however, breaks those bonds of trust and puts young people at risk. We can only hope our Republican governor is not as cruel as his party’s legislators and will veto HB 8.

Frauds on the left

We now have confirmation of what the left denied for years. Joe Biden is incapable of being president because of his physical and mental condition, and that has held true for years.

More in Politics

Honestly, that is no surprise. Yet the left claimed Joe is “fine,” he is “engaged,” he is “energetic.” Every bit of it was false.

Let’s be clear. The left intentionally misrepresented a material fact, intending to get the public to rely, and the public reasonably relied upon this lie when it voted for Joe to be the Democratic candidate.

That is fraud.

And the breadth of those perpetrating the fraud is staggering — an entire administration. So as long as the left desires to affix a fraud label on others, it ought to pin a few of its own with the same label. I won’t hold my breath.
