Squid game has become Netflix’s most-watched show debut ever, beating fan favourites such as Bridgerton by over 29 million views.

Since the show was released, viewers have been fascinated by the series pacey plot and twists leading to many viral theories.

However, one theory has taken off on TikTok that suggests the colour of the tile players pick whilst playing against the salesman determines the role they will play in the game.

The game consists of players dressed in green, workers dressed in red and the Front Man dressed in black.

As we follow the story, it is revealed how the players are selected, and all of them appear to pick the blue tile. However, it is never revealed how the workers are recruited.

The theory is that players who picked the red tile while playing the salesman in a game of Ddakji become the workers.

In the first episode of the popular series Gi-hun, the main character is asked to pick a colour, blue or red, as he is given the chance to win 100,000 won if he can flip the salesman’s tile.

Gi-hun selects blue and manages to lose several rounds before he eventually wins.

Later in the episode, players question why they have been kidnapped and forced to play the menacing game but then are told that they joined the game of their own free will by calling the number and registering their names.

The theory of the red workers has gone viral on TikTok with over 37 million views.

TikToker @lucy.ehat1 said: “He asks him to chose a colour. He chooses blue and wakes up as a player. What if he has chosen red?”

Many people agree with the theory saying: “THAT MAKES SENSE ?? Because as we can see from the few scenes that the workers are just normal people too probably in debt like the players”.

Another said: “THAT MAKES SO MUCH SENSE AND THE RED PEOPLE HAD REULES THEY HAD TO STICK TO ASWELL THEY ONLY ACTED THAT WAY BECAUSE THEY DIDN’T WANT TO DIE”.
