Residents of Los Angeles’ Woodland Hills neighborhood helped police stop and detain a man with a blowtorch on Thursday, January 9, suspecting him of arson as the Kenneth Fire burned nearby.
This footage captured by Chris Sumner shows community members confronting a man with a blowtorch in Woodland Hills, California, on Thursday. Residents noticed the man trying to set old Christmas trees and garbage cans on fire, local news reported.
Several residents can be seen gathering around the man and preventing him from leaving as police officers arrive on the scene. Officers can be seen cuffing the man and escorting him to a police vehicle.

According to a local news report, the man was charged with a probation violation but is not suspected to have caused any fires.
