Wouldn’t it be nice if Jimmy Carter’s climate policies had stayed in place? | Letters

The front page of the Courier Journal on 12/31/24 contained the articles, “A Life Devoted to Humanity” and “2024 was the Hottest Year Ever Recorded Across the World.”

How interesting that President Jimmy Carter, who was president from 1977-1981 and died Dec. 29, put policies in place about 50 years ago to lower energy use and invest in renewable energy. Thanks to President Carter’s energy policies, the U.S. energy use dropped 10% from 1979-1983.

Wouldn’t it be nice if Carter’s policies stayed in place so the article “2024 was the Hottest Year Ever Recorded Across the World” would not need to be written to let us know what the world will be like if we do not change our energy use?
