Zinedine Zidane makes true Man United feelings clear amid Erik ten Hag uncertainty

Real Madrid legend Zinedine Zidane has hailed Manchester United’s Old Trafford as one of his favourite stadiums from his career amid links to the Reds’ managerial position.

Zidane has been out of work as a manager since he stepped back from the Real Madrid role in 2021. During his time in the Spanish capital, the Frenchman won three Champions Leagues and two La Ligas across two spells as head coach.

Every time a top job in Europe becomes available, Zidane is inevitably linked after being out of management for so long and United is no different. He is among the bookmakers’ likely candidates to take over from Erik ten Hag should he be sacked.

The Dutchman is under fire at present having led United to their worst ever start to a Premier League season. It was believed that during the October international break, Ten Hag may well have been sacked.

A meeting was held in London on Tuesday, October 8 where a number of matters including the first-team’s performance and Ten Hag’s future were discussed. Since then, there have been no updates on Ten Hag’s future which has led to the assumption he is safe for now.

In a recent interview on Real Madrid’s YouTube channel, Zidane was asked about the stadiums which held a special place in his heart. Firstly, he mentioned Anfield before adding: “I also remember Manchester United.

“We played some impressive matches against them [at Old Trafford].” Zidane’s arrival in the Premier League is believed to be a longshot as he has always insisted he would not like to manage in a country where his grasp of the language is not 100 per cent – a problem he foresees in England.
