Coronation Street viewers have been quick to respond after bosses at the ITV soap issued a “best” update.
The long-running serial drama, which has been on our screens for more than 63 years, has amassed legions of loyal fans over the decades. Households up and down the country have been glued to their TVs for huge storylines, with the soap becoming something of a UK institution.
Soap bosses regularly update viewers, and on Monday a post from Corrie’s official Instagram account told its 750,000 followers the programme has been nominated for a number of “best” gongs at the first ever Radio Times Soap Awards this year.

Corrie is up for Best Soap, while Best Exit, Best Comedy Performance, Best Exit, and others are up for grabs. Captioning the post, Coronation Street bosses said: “Voting is now open for the FIRST EVER Radio Times Soap Awards!
“Go to the link in our bio to vote and to see the full list of nominees! Come on team Corrie”.
Hundreds of viewers have already had their say in the comments section, as Lucy said: “I thought the actor who plays Liam would be up there!” Julie said: “Brilliant” and Taylor said: “I have voted all things Corrie. Good luck”.
