Matters of the heart are high on the agenda in Coronation Street as one couple risks being over and another could blossom next week. It starts when Adam Barlow meets up with Rebecca, a new client played by former Hollyoaks star Gemma Merna, at the Chariot Square Hotel.

Having ordered a bottle of wine, Adam flirts with Rebecca and the chemistry between them is evident. When Alya Nazir calls to tell him that he’s needed in the office for a meeting, Adam kills the call leaving her frustrated. Alya then takes the meeting with Rich from Fabian’s in place of Adam and Rich is impressed with her knowledge, suggesting she’s future partner material.

Adam returns to the street with Rebecca and as they kiss, Adam invites her up to the office. As Alya winds up the meeting with Rich, suddenly the door bursts open and Adam and Rebecca stumble in, mid-snog.

Later, Alya tells her grandmother Yasmeen that she’s decided to accept the job offer from Rich. Over at the solicitors, Adam and Dee-Dee Bailey struggle without Alya to organise them while Rich takes Alya for lunch in the Bistro as he congratulates her on such a successful morning and tells her that she’s exactly what Fabian’s needs and she’ll go far.

At the same time, Adam receives an email from his biggest client informing him that they’re transferring their work to Fabian’s. How will Adam react to Alya poaching their business?

In the solicitors, Dee-Dee takes a call which shocks her, but she covers in front of Adam. Dee-Dee then takes another unwanted call but when Joel arrives she paints on a smile. As Joel helps Dee-Dee with Roy’s bail application, he notices that she’s received some email death threats

Meanwhile, Michael reveals that according to Adam she’s accepted her job back, Alya’s furious and spotting Adam across the street, heads over to demand answers. Alya spells out to Adam that he can stick his lousy job and storms off. As Adam watches her go, it’s clear he’s smitten.

Elsewhere, Gary Windass eyes wife Maria’s phone, wishing he could delete the camera footage. On the street, Sarah apologises to Gary for making a drunken pass at him and is horrified when Gary reveals that Maria has a hidden camera. As Gary shows a valuer around the factory, Sarah approaches, worried about the camera footage but Gary assures her he’ll delete it. Will Gary delete the footage in time?

Also, having borrowed the Underworld van, Kirk Sutherland helps Sean Tully and his son Dylan Wilson move their stuff out of No.11 and offers to drop Dylan and Liam at school. In the café, Mary Taylor tells Eileen Grimshaw that having called at Sean’s new flat, it’s clear that they’re very short of furniture and the place is desperate for a facelift. As Sean moves the last of his things out of No.11, Mary hands him a housewarming gift in the shape of a candle.

And, after Toyah Habeeb’s interference, Simon Barlow worries that Leanne Battersby is backing out as she tells him that he needs to do some more research into his business before she’s prepared to invest any money.

In the bistro, an upbeat Nick TIlsely tells Leanne and Toyah that they’ve had a great week and business is improving. Nick bites his tongue as Leanne puts it down to her reality coding. A couple calls at the bistro with their daughter, Anwen, who joins Sam Blakeman for a game of chess. Sam is delighted and Nick and Leanne are pleased to see him making new friends. When Leanne suggests that her reality coding is helping him too, Sam’s sceptical, but in a bid to keep the peace, offers to read up about the Altovalent Institute.
