Omari Forson has thanked Erik ten Hag for the opportunities he gave him at Manchester United after agreeing a deal to sign for Serie A side Monza.

The 19-year-old midfielder rejected a new contract from United to sign for the Serie A outfit after making seven appearances for the Reds in the 2023-24 season. Upon penning a deal with the Italian outfit on Tuesday, Monza hailed Forson as “one of the most promising prospects in Europe”.

Forson, meanwhile, took to Instagram to thank Ten Hag for the opportunities he afforded him at Old Trafford, including a first United appearance on the way to the club’s FA Cup triumph in May.

“Appreciate all the opportunities you (Ten Hag) gave me,” he wrote. “[I’m] gonna show the world what you saw in me a long time ago.”

On Tuesday night it was confirmed that Ten Hag will continue as United manager following last month’s FA Cup final victory against Manchester City. The Dutchman had been facing an uncertain future at Old Trafford in recent weeks but INEOS have now decided to persist with Ten Hag, who they are set to hold talks with over a new contract.

As reported by the Manchester Evening News, INEOS officials have recognised the achievement of winning two trophies in two seasons and Ten Hag has been given a vote of confidence to continue as manager.
