Former Leeds United boss Jesse Marsch has found his first job back in management since leaving the Whites in February 2023.
Marsch was sacked by Leeds amid a run of poor form, which left the club fighting to survive in the Premier League. Relegation would ultimately follow, with results failing to improve in the final weeks of the campaign.
The American has been out of work since his Elland Road departure last year, though will soon be back in the dugout. It has tonight been confirmed Marsch has been appointed the new manager of the Canada national team on a contract until 2026.
It means the 50-year-old will coach Canada at this summer’s Copa America tournament, the 2025 Concacaf Gold Cup and the 2026 World Cup, which they will host alongside Mexico and the United States.

Describing his emotions after landing this new role, Marsch said: “It is an absolute honour to represent and lead the Canadian Men’s National Team in our preparation for a home World Cup. The combination of the new leadership inside of Canada Soccer coupled with the potential of this dynamic player pool has inspired me, and I am ready and eager to take on this massive responsibility.
“My excitement and anticipation to get started are immense. One of my main goals will be to help unite the soccer community in Canada to support our efforts to be successful on and off the pitch. All In for 2026!”
Marsch has previous experience at international level, having worked as an assistant manager for his home country between 2010 and 2011, though his later jobs all arrived at club level. Montreal Impact, New York Red Bulls, Red Bull Salzburg and Red Bull Leipzig were the four sides he coached prior to joining Leeds.
