KS Nissar Ahmed Kannada poet dies at 84 in Bengaluru

Kannada poet KS Nissar Ahmed died today in Bengaluru he was 84.

Kannada Poet and Renowned professor Nissar Ahmed (Kokkare Hosahalli Sheik Haider Nissar Ahmed) passed away on May 3, 2020, at his residence in Bengaluru. He was suffering from age-related ailments.

Nissar Ahmed was a geology professor by profession, he was born on 5 February 1936 in Mysore (British India) at that time. He was an Indian poet and writer in the Kannada language.

He was a post-graduate in Geology, KS Nissar Ahmed worked as an Assistant Geologist in The Mysore Mines and Geology at Gulbarga from 1950 to 1960. He worked as a lecturer in Geology in Central College, Bangalore, and then in Chitradurga. Later, he taught in the Sahyadri First Grade College in Shimoga for two terms during 1967–72 and 1975–78. He won the Padma Shri award in 2008 for his contribution to Kannada Literature.
