Luis G. Noyola, 46, was held without bond in Doña Ana County District Court this week for the alleged murder of his father and brother with a hammer on June 23, 2024.

Noyola is charged with two counts of first-degree murder and two counts of tampering with evidence after investigators alleged he cleaned up DNA evidence throughout the residence, including from the suspected murder weapon in the kitchen sink.

There is a preliminary hearing scheduled for July 9 in front of 3rd Judicial District Judge Douglas Driggers.

According to court documents, Noyola allegedly told police he murdered his father and brother when police arrived following a requested welfare check from Noyola’s sister. Noyola, who lives at the residence with his parents and brother, told police he believed his brother, 51-year-old Lucio Noyola, had stolen his identity and was controlling his electronic devices. He also told police he believed his family had been putting urine or feces in his food.

According to court documents, Noyola retrieved a hammer from the backyard and approached his father, 88-year-old Francisco Noyola, and brother, looking at something on the computer. He struck his brother first in the head, and then his father with the intention of killing them, according to court documents. Noyola then moved the bodies from the living room to his father’s room. Court documents show that Noyola denied his mother and sister entry to the home while he attempted to clean up following the crime and even attempted to convince others to assist him with the cleaning.

On June 23, 2024, Las Cruces Police were dispatched to 1105 Wofford Dr. for a welfare check, requested by his sister.  Noyola’s sister had picked up their mother earlier, and upon returning Noyola told them “You do not want to come in here,” and did not open the door.

Law enforcement found a hammer near a sink, along with trash bags with foam and blood throughout the home. Noyola allegedly was in possession of his brother’s wallet, and police said they discovered latex gloves on his person, according to court documents.
