Her mother, Diana Cojocari, and her stepfather, Christopher Palmiter, are facing felony charges of failure to report a missing child.

Diana Cojocari pleaded guilty to the charge on Monday.

Diana’s plea was not part of a deal, and she has already spend the maximum amount of time in jail for this charge.

She was sentenced Monday to six to seven months in prison, but because she has 520 days of time served, she will go free shortly.

The judge said it’s highly likely Cojocari will face deportation since she’s in the United States on a green card.

Palmiter was also expected to be in court Monday for a jury trial. He has pleaded not guilty to his charge.

Early on in this investigation, Channel 9 reported that when detectives asked Diana why she did not report her daughter missing, they say she told them she was worried it might start a “conflict” between her and her husband.

Diana Cojocari was initially scheduled to be arraigned in February, but according to the judge in the courtroom, she chose not to attend the arraignment.
