Parts of the UK could be as ‘hot as Ibiza’ next week, it has been suggested, with temperatures set to rise according to some forecasters.

Sky News reported that the south of the country could see highs of 24C, while London could see 29C – beating forecast temperatures of 25C in the Spanish holiday hotspot of Ibiza.

Sky News meteorologist Chris England said weather will be increasingly warm and humid later this weekend and for the first part of next week.

Met Office forecasts also suggest highs of 29C in parts of the country next week with ‘widely settled and humid conditions.’

Here are what temperatures will look like in different parts of the country early next week:-

According to the Manchester Evening News, the Met Office said from Monday (24 June) to Thursday (27 June), Scotland, Northern Ireland, parts of the North West, Wales and the South West of England will see a ‘warm or very warm’ few days with highs of 22C to 24C, while areas including the East and West Midlands and the South East will experience ‘typical summer heat ‘ with highs of between 25C to 27C.

Met Office chief forecaster Neil Armstrong said: “After a brief, less settled, interlude on Friday and Saturday, fine conditions will return by Sunday and into next week. For much of the UK this will be accompanied by a boost in temperatures with many places reaching the mid-20°Cs by the middle of next week.

“Some central and southern areas are likely to see temperatures approaching the values needed for heatwave conditions. Heatwave conditions need to remain in situ for three consecutive days, and by the middle of next week it is possible that some parts of the UK could be reaching heatwave thresholds.”

He concluded: “However, whether or not everyone experiences heatwave thresholds, the majority of the UK will experience the finest conditions and highest temperatures so far this year.”
