An Augusta business owner is hoping to reach a pet owner whose dogs are chasing his employees and customers in the Washington Square shopping center parking lot on Washington Road.
Elliot Adams, owner of The Juicy Crab, said he believes the dogs belong to a woman who is purposely letting the dogs out, unleashed, toward the back of the parking lot.
“Three dogs have chased customers and my employees on multiple occasions,” he wrote in a post to the Ring app Sunday night. “If these are your dogs, please stop letting them run free. This is a private parking lot with businesses, not a dog park.”
Adams told The Chronicle the woman may live at an apartment complex nearby and is just trying to give her dogs exercise, but it is becoming a safety concern.
“[They have chased] two of my employees at this point,” Adams said in an interview. “Apparently she just had the small dog [in the video] the first time someone encountered her and she asked my dishwasher if he was scared of dogs. He said, ‘I’m not really scared of dogs, it just depends on the dog,’ and then she went and let out the two bigger dogs. One chased him all the way to the door.”

The bigger dogs appear to be pit bull mixes, according to Adams.
“I don’t really like to bring a bad rap on pit bulls. They are misunderstood dogs,” he said. “I really am hoping the community post will make it around the Ring app, or if she comes again I can get somebody directly in touch [with her]. Apparently she comes later in the day and we’re pretty busy in the evening. By the time I hear about it, she’s gone.”
While Adams wrote on the Ring post that he may have to contact the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office or animal control if the problem persists, he said he doesn’t want to have to escalate the situation. His goal is keeping everyone safe.
“I think that it’s dangerous for the dogs and dangerous for people,” he said.
