Kate Middleton has hinted at a possible return to public life this weekend as Prince William revealed the origins of his “Harry Potter” scar.
According to reports, the Princess of Wales may be “considering” a surprise appearance at the King’s annual birthday parade on Saturday, 15 June.
This comes after she apologised in a heartfelt letter for missing the final Trooping the Colour rehearsal, known as the Colonel’s Review, last weekend.
The Princess of Wales, who is the honorary Colonel of the Irish Guards, wrote: “Please pass my apologies to the whole Regiment, however, I do hope that I am able to represent you all once again very soon.”
Meanwhile, while on a visit to Wales to learn about innovations in the seaweed industry yesterday, Prince William explained how he got a Harry Potter scar.
He did so when asked if he played golf, then explained that the last time he did, he sustained an injury to his head that has now drawn comparisons in his mind with Harry Potter’s famous lightning bolt scar.

Prince William celebrates seaweed innovators
08:28 , Emma Guinness
Prince William yesterday celebrated innovations that are being made by businesses using seaweed.
He met with businesses at Cardiff Metropolitan University including Car-y-Mor, a seaweed farm that produces snacks.
Owen Haines of Car-y-Mor said the entire industry has the potential to create much-needed jobs in coastal areas.
“Coastal areas tend to be dominated by tourism and second homes, and the trouble with that is sooner or later the community collapses, as in, the doctor’s surgery closes, the school closes – no local can afford the housing,” Haines said.
“Whereas if you start businesses like this, you’ve got a chance to restart. This is an opportunity to start a new sector with land and sea farming, by producing bio-stimulants [from the seaweed] you can put on the fields.”
Harry and Meghan’s ‘contingency plan’ if Trump is re-elected
08:17 , Emma Guinness
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly making a “contingency plan” in the event of Donald Trump’s reelection in November.
The former president said that the Duke of Sussex, whose visa is currently being reviewed, would be treated like any other citizen if it emerges that he lied about his prior drug use on his application.
A source told New Idea: “The Sussexes are worried sick over the prospect of Donald Trump becoming president again – and making good on his vow to kick Prince Harry out of America.
“They’re putting together a contingency plan that would see them flee the country with their children [Archie and Lilibet] if Trump does return to office.”

Referring to England’s loss to Iceland on Friday, Charles said: “What was all that at Wembley?”
Beckham replied: “I don’t think we should read much into it.”
Charles said: “It doesn’t really matter does it? It was a warming up sort of thing. You don’t want to expend it all in one go at the beginning.”
Reassuring the King, Beckham said “we’ll be ready, Gareth will be ready” to which Charles gave the former footballer a thumbs up.

Animal rights protestors wanted to get King Charles’s attention
Tuesday 11 June 2024 22:00 , Emma Guinness
The animal rights protestors who defaced the new portrait of King Charles have said they wanted to entertain the Monarch.
Animal Rising activist Dan Juniper said: “We know that King Charles is a big fan of Wallace and Gromit, [as] he has publicly said before.
“And so we wanted to get King Charles’s attention in a way that he would enjoy and therefore be more likely to listen to us.”
King Charles portrait unharmed by vandalism
Tuesday 11 June 2024 20:00 , Emma Guinness
The new portrait of King Charles is unharmed after it was targeted by animal rights protestors today.
Gallery owner Philip Mould explained that it was behind a piece of glass that protected the image of the King when the Monarch’s face was replaced with that of the animated character Wallace and a speech bubble was added.
“We had anticipated that there might be these type of responses,” Mould said of the portrait, which hangs in London’s Philip Mould Gallery.
“(The painting) is safely secured in its frame with protective layers.
“One always lives with that thought these days. I wasn’t hugely surprised.
“The attack on the picture was not actually of a serious nature. The perpetrators put water on the surface very quickly in a swift manoeuvre and then they added stickers to that.
“No damage was done. The stickers only remained up for about 10 or 15 seconds, and then were taken down by my gallery staff.
“I asked the individuals to leave and they did.”
RSPCA responds to vandalism of King Charles portrait
Tuesday 11 June 2024 18:00 , Emma Guinness
The RSPCA has responded to the vandalism of King Charles’s new portrait, which targeted the organisation.
Animal Rising supporters claim they defaced the image of the King at a London gallery to draw attention to the alleged plight of animals on RSPCA Assured farms.
An RSPCA spokesperson said: “We are shocked by this vandalism of His Majesty [the] King, our patron’s, portrait.
“We welcome scrutiny of our work, but we cannot condone illegal activity of any kind. Our staff and volunteers work extremely hard rescuing, caring for, and speaking up for animals.
“Animal Rising’s sustained activity is distracting from our focus on the work that really matters – helping thousands of animals every day.
“We remain confident that our RSPCA Assured scheme is the best way to help farmed animals right now, while campaigning to change their lives in the future.”
Animal rights protestors say public ‘loved it’ when they vandalised portrait of King
Tuesday 11 June 2024 16:34 , Emma Guinness
The animal rights protestors who targeted the new portrait of King Charles have claimed the public “loved” the stunt.
In the incident today, the Monarch’s face was replaced with that of the popular animated character Wallace and a speech bubble was added to the Jonathan Yeo portrait that read: “No cheese, Gromit. Look at all this cruelty on RSPCA farms!”
Daniel Juniper, 29, from the charity Animal Rising, was one of two men responsible for the attack at the Philip Mould Gallery in London.
He said: “We put up the posters nice and smoothly and as soon as we did people started chuckling behind us.
“There was a buzz around the gallery, people came and talked to us, took photos of us and then we were politely asked to leave. People came up and said they loved it.
“The staff member asked us what we were doing and why and let us talk about what we wanted to talk about.
“He wasn’t negative. He was concerned for the painting and we then took the speech bubble off and they took the (face) down later.”
Animal rights group issues statement about defacing painting of King Charles
Tuesday 11 June 2024 15:35 , Emma Guinness
A spokesperson for the animal rights group responsible for defacing the new portrait of King Charles has issued a statement about the incident.
The painting by Jonathan Yeo was targeted because of King Charles’s status as a patron of the RSPCA Assured charity.
Orla Coghlan, a former children’s nurse, said: “Just as Feathers McGraw fooled Wallace into a bank heist, the RSPCA has been fooling the British public into thinking their factory farms are – in any way – an acceptable place for animals to live.
“It’s clear from the scenes across 45 RSPCA Assured farms that there’s no kind way to farm animals.”
Prince William jokes about Harry Potter scar
Tuesday 11 June 2024 15:00 , Emma Guinness
Prince William has joked about his “Harry Potter” scar today.
The heir to the throne, 41, pointed it out when he encountered a golf tree made from seaweed while on an engagement in Wales.
There, the Prince of Wales discovered how various businesses are using seaweed to improve their operations.
The seaweed golf tree is designed to biodegrade and fertilise greens, and when asked if he partook in the sport, William said “no, the last time I played golf” and pointed at the scar on his head.
King Charles portrait defaced by animal rights protestors
Tuesday 11 June 2024 14:29 , Emma Guinness
Animal rights protestors have defaced the newly unveiled portrait of King Charles.
The King’s face was covered with an image of the popular animated character Wallace and a speech bubble was added that read: “No cheese, Gromit. Look at all this cruelty on RSPCA farms!”
The group Animal Rising have taken responsibility for the stunt, which took place today at the Philip Mould Gallery in London.
Animal Rising said that they targetted the portrait by Jonathan Yeo, which featured a butterfly to reflect the King’s passion for the environment, to draw attention to their “damning investigation” into 45 RSPCA “assured” farms.
King Charles appointed the royal patron of the RSPCA Assured charity just last month.
Daniel Juniper, a former early years practitioner who took part in the stunt, said: “With King Charles being such a big fan of Wallace and Gromit, we couldn’t think of a better way to draw his attention to the horrific scenes on RSPCA Assured farms.
“Even though we hope this is amusing to His Majesty, we also call on him to seriously reconsider if he wants to be associated with the awful suffering across farms being endorsed by the RSPCA.
“Charles has made it clear he is sensitive to the suffering of animals in UK farms; now is the perfect time for him to step up and call on the RSPCA to drop the Assured Scheme and tell the truth about animal farming.”
Queen could stop Prince Harry and King Charles reunion
Tuesday 11 June 2024 11:29 , Emma Guinness
Queen Camilla could be stopping Prince Harry from reconnecting with his cancer-stricken father.
Royal expert Tom Quinn speculated to The Mirror that even if the Prince reaches out to acknowledge the King’s official birthday and Trooping the Colour on Saturday and Father’s Day on Sunday, he could be stopped by the Queen Consort.
According to the expert, she is trying to avoid the Monarch having any interactions which may upset him.
Quinn speculated: “Harry has tried to schedule a call with his father already, but his father is prevaricating with Camilla advising against anything that might upset King Charles.”
Prince Harry knows the ‘world will be watching’ him on Father’s Day
Tuesday 11 June 2024 11:21 , Emma Guinness
A royal expert has said that the eyes of the world will be on Prince Harry as the UK marks Father’s Day this Sunday (16 June).
The Duke of Sussex, 39, has notably not seen his father since he revealed his cancer diagnosis in February when he flew to the UK for a reported 45-minute meeting.
While Harry also returned to the UK last month, he did not meet with the King because of his allegedly busy schedule.
Royal author Tom Quinn told The Mirror: “King Charles’ birthday and Father’s Day are both a nightmare for Harry. He knows the world will be watching to see whether he is big enough to reach out to his father.
“He is determined to try to ignore his troubled relationship with his father and he will certainly send a warm message.
“It’s easy to forget that Harry really does love his father, he just hates the fact that Charles seems always to support William when there is a family dispute.”

Animal rights group says escaped military horses should miss Trooping the Colour
Tuesday 11 June 2024 08:13 , Emma Guinness
The animal rights group PETA has argued that the escaped military horses who ran through London should not participate in Trooping the Colour.
Their request comes after the army revealed that the horses had made “remarkable progress” in recovering from the incident earlier this year and would likely be appearing at Saturday’s event.
In a letter written to the commanding officer of the Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment (HCMR), Lieutenant Colonel Mathew Woodward, PETA said the events of 24 April, when the horses were spooked by noise from a nearby building side, showed that the animals were not suited a life of public service.
Kate Werner, Peta’s senior campaigns manager, wrote: “Clearly, these horses are easily agitated and sensitive to noise.
“Forcing them to perform at a crowded event marked by drums and a 41-gun salute would place them and the public at risk.
“The whole world was rightly shocked to see images of scared, blood-soaked horses running through the streets of London after getting spooked during April’s failed exercise.
“Tradition is never an excuse for animal suffering, and each horse deserves to live free from the stress they endure when paraded through a busy, loud capital city with a human on their back, all for the amusement of noisy, unpredictable crowds.”

Suits is currently in the process of getting a new LA-based spin-off, and it has been noted that Meghan now lives in California with her family.
King Charles would be ‘delighted’ by surprise Kate appearance
Tuesday 11 June 2024 00:00 , Emma Guinness
Following the news that the Princess of Wales is considering making a surprise appearance at the Trooping the Colour, an expert has claimed that the King would be “delighted” if it happens.
PR advisor Rhea Freeman told GB News that any appearance would “dominate the news” and send a positive message about the strength of the monarchy to the world.
She said: “If Kate were to appear on the balcony it would definitely dominate the news.
“But from everything I’ve read and seen, I would imagine that the King would be delighted to have her there.
“It would reinforce the strength of the monarchy moving forward, something that has been questioned by some with both the King and Kate’s recent health concerns.”
Prince Harry’s friends ‘don’t get on with Meghan’
Monday 10 June 2024 22:00 , Emma Guinness
A royal expert has claimed that Prince Harry is looking to acquire a new UK residence as his friends have not been visiting him in America.
Tom Quinn claims that the Prince, who gave up his UK residence Frogmore Cottage last June, misses his old life.
He told The Mirror: “Harry is determined to find his own permanent home in the UK, which is partly why he’s continuing his legal action to get the British taxpayer to pay for his security.
“As time goes by, Harry misses some aspects of his old life in the UK.
“He misses his Old Etonian and army friends, many of whom have not visited as they don’t get on with Meghan.”
Prince Harry ‘misses his old life’ and is house hunting in the UK
Monday 10 June 2024 20:00 , Emma Guinness
After giving up his UK residence Frogmore Cottage last year, Prince Harry is reportedly on the look for a new residence in the UK.
The revelation comes after the Duke of Sussex stayed in a London hotel on his recent trip to the UK, having allegedly turned down the offer of staying in a royal residence.
Royal expert Tom Quinn told The Mirror: “Harry is determined to find his own permanent home in the UK, which is partly why he’s continuing his legal action to get the British taxpayer to pay for his security.
“As time goes by, Harry misses some aspects of his old life in the UK.
“Inevitably, the honeymoon period where everything in the States is new and exciting is coming to an end and Harry is looking back at the past through rose-tinted spectacles.”

It involves a procession by the order of the Garter, described by Buckingham Palace as “the oldest and most senior Order of Chivalry in Britain.”
Harry Kane ‘backs himself’ in Euros 2024
Monday 10 June 2024 16:04 , Emma Guinness
Harry Kane opened up to Prince William about the possibility of scoring at this year’s Euros.
The England striker told the Prince of Wales that he “backs himself” after the second in line to the throne visited the team at St George’s Park today – England’s national football centre in Burton upon Trent.
Kane said William’s visit was “amazing” and has provided him with “extra motivation” to bring the coveted trophy home this year.
He said: “We know how much it means to the country and the fans. The nation comes together at this moment.
“We’re looking to get better, I always back myself to score.
“We have been good in the major tournaments in the last year. We are probably going into this as one of the favourites, one the other nations will look at and that’s a responsibility we have to take forward.
“We need to prove we are one of the best”.
King Charles pays tribute to Irish Guards
Monday 10 June 2024 14:31 , Emma Guinness
King Charles has today paid tribute to the “professionalism, courage and humour” of the Irish Guards ahead of the Trooping the Colour ceremony on Saturday.
The Monarch inspected the soldiers today and gave them new colours which will be publicly displayed for the first time at his official birthday parade on 15 June.
The King said: “In recent years, the regiment has continued to serve with immense distinction.
“Around the world, your achievements include vital work to counter terrorism in Iraq and to bolster security across Africa by providing high-quality training teams to work with local forces.
“At home, you played an indispensable role in assisting the civil authorities during the Covid pandemic and, only last year, training Ukrainian forces to enable them to defend their homeland.
“I was privileged to see the impressive results of this latter work for myself, during a visit to Knook Camp, on Salisbury Plain.
“In this ever-changing world, it is no exaggeration to say that the whole regiment finds itself occupying a central role in defence’s contribution to the myriad challenges which societies must face.
“In all of this, you bring to your duty a blend of professionalism, courage and humour which has always marked out Irish Guardsmen.”

Royal expert claims focus is on Meghan Markle after Nigeria trip
Monday 10 June 2024 13:16 , Emma Guinness
A royal expert has weighed in on the aftermath of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s recent unofficial tour of Nigeria, which marked the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games.
Rupert Bell has claimed that Harry’s organisation has been put on the back burner in favour of Meghan in the wake of the tour.
The trip was designed to support the games, which provide an opportunity for wounded, sick or injured service people to showcase their sporting abilities.
Bell told TalkTV: “The visit, which I’m sure was deemed to be about Invictus, but all of the fallout from it seems to be about Meghan. Harry’s role in trying to drum up support for Invictus seems to have been put on the back burner.”
Prince Louis’s hilarious advice to England team ahead of Euros
Monday 10 June 2024 13:04 , Emma Guinness
Prince William has relayed Prince Louis’s hilarious advice to the England squad ahead of this year’s Euros.
The Prince of Wales wished the team luck today at St George’s Park – England’s national football centre in Burton upon Trent – and shared his youngest son’s unusual advice for victory.
William, the president of the FA, said: “I was on the school run this morning with the children and I said ‘What shall I say to the England team today?’
“The best bit of advice I got to ask you was to eat twice the amount you normally would eat.
“So I then had visions of all of you running around with massive great tummies and loads of stitches on the pitch so I think maybe take my youngest’s advice with a pinch of salt.”
Royal expert claims potential Kate return this weekend is ‘unlikely’
Monday 10 June 2024 11:35 , Emma Guinness
A royal expert has weighed in on the claim that the Princess of Wales is “considering” an appearance on the Buckingham Palace balcony at Trooping the Colour.
Should the Princess appear, it will be the first time she has been seen in public since Christmas day last year after taking a step back from her duties because of her ongoing cancer battle.
Royal expert Katie Nicholl told Entertainment Tonight that it is “very unlikely” that the British public will see Kate again anytime soon.
“These are strong drugs that she’s on, but she’s tolerating it better, and she’s doing better,” Nicholl said.
“She’s still going to be prone to infection as she goes through this preventative chemotherapy. She’s going to be very careful about who she’s coming into contact with. S
“She’s not going to want to put herself at any risk,” Nicholl explained.
The expert speculated that Prince William will appear alone on the balcony with the couple’s three young children, George, Charlotte and Louis.
King Charles’s participation in the event has also been altered because of his ongoing cancer treatment and he will inspect the guards from a carriage as opposed to horseback.
King Charles ‘does not want a FaceTime relationship’ with Archie and Lilibet
Monday 10 June 2024 11:08 , Emma Guinness
King Charles is reportedly sad that he has only met Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet a handful of times.
According to royal author Ingrid Seward, “family has always been important to the King” and he does not believe that digital interactions are enough to sustain a relationship with his youngest grandchildren, who live in California.
Seward said: “That’s why he will never break ties with Harry. He does not want a FaceTime relationship with his son’s children.
“He wants to know them and be involved with their lives while they are still young enough to be able to learn from his wisdom.
“His cancer has made it all the more poignant to him as he knows that he won’t be around forever.”

Polly, 73, and Sheila, 69, were attested after they set off a canister of orange gas after the 33-year-old British aristocrat’s wedding to bride Olivia Henson, 31.
The group, Just Stop Oil, subsequently claimed responsibility for the incident.
A spokesman for Cheshire Police said: “Shortly after 1pm on Friday a coloured flare was released by two women, believed to be protesting on behalf of Just Stop Oil, in St Werburgh Street, Chester.
“Officers were immediately on the scene and two women were quickly arrested on suspicion of public order offences.
“The 69-year-old woman, from Bristol, and 73-year-old woman, from Ipswich, have both been released on police bail until September 2.”
Prince Harry missed Duke’s wedding for two key reasons, former royal butler reveals
Monday 10 June 2024 10:47 , Emma Guinness
Prince Harry missed the Duke of Westminster’s wedding for two key reasons, a former royal butler has claimed.
Grant Harrold, the King’s former Butler, told OK! magazine that Harry’s attendance was likely not possible because of the media coverage it would have garnered and the effect that his ongoing rift with William has likely had on mutual friends.
He said: “I’m sure [Harry] would have wanted to attend. But Harry and William shared friends and they have likely been drawn into this dispute. Plus, he may have worried that the rift with William would pull focus from the wedding.
“It will be hard for William to attend the wedding without Kate as I’m sure they planned to go together. They’re such a partnership and he’s his best self when she’s by his side.”
Queen Camilla praised for ‘warm personality’
Monday 10 June 2024 09:37 , Emma Guinness
Queen Camilla has won praise for her hosting of the Queen’s Reading Room Literary Festival at Hampton Court Palace this weekend.
American author Harlan Coben described the royal as “fantastic” and said she had “such a warm personality” as they discussed “how pleased” they both were by the literary world.
Coben said: “There’s nothing bad about a book festival, it’s one of the few things in life, there’s no controversy, there’s nothing negative. It’s just people enjoying books.
“Everybody is smiling, the Queen’s Reading Room festival has done a great job in using science to show us that reading is actually good for us, reduces stress, it increases our mental health and our empathy. And so I’m very excited to be able to help spread that message.”
King Charles refuses to ‘slow down’ amid cancer treatment
Monday 10 June 2024 09:28 , Emma Guinness
Queen Camilla has revealed that King Charles refuses to “slow down” as he undergoes treatment for an undisclosed type of cancer.
The Queen consort made the revelation on Saturday to author Lee Child at the Queen’s Reading Room Literary Festival at Hampton Court Palace.
When told that the King, who recently returned to work, also “won’t do what he’s told”, the author joked: “Sounds to me like a typical husband.”
Child said: “I asked her how the King was doing because he did my investiture when I got the CBE, so I have a soft spot.
“And I hope he’s doing fine. She said he is doing fine, except he won’t slow down and he won’t do what he’s told, which sounds to me a typical husband.”
