Ruth Langsford was quick to hit back following a comment on one of her latest social media posts as she distances herself from news of her split from husband Eamonn Holmes.

The former This Morning duo announced they had gone their separate ways after 14 years of marriage last month. The pair married in June 2010 and have one son, Jack, who was born in 2002. Their wedding, after 13 years of dating, was attended by TV presenters Gloria Hunniford and Jeremy Kyle, EastEnders actress Zoe Lucker and former champion boxer Barry McGuigan.

A statement issued on May 25 about the pair’s marriage read: “Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes have confirmed their marriage is over and they are in the process of divorcing.”

But seemingly carrying on as normal, Ruth took to social media on Sunday (June 2) with the latest video of her mum as they spent their usual day together which usually includes cooking up a storm in the kitchen before settling down with a sherry and getting cuddles from rescue pup Maggie, all while listening to music together.

Alongside the clip, set to Strictly Come Dancing star Anton Du Beke’s version of Putting On The Ritz, Ruth said: “Lovely day spent with my darling Mum….sunshine, music, dancing, sherry, lunch, crosswords in the garden & Maggie….making memories. Music by her favourite @mrantondubeke #sunday #family #mum.”

And while many of Ruth’s fans and followers shared their love for the wholesome video, one commented and suggested Ruth’s beloved dog wasn’t happy.

Writing beneath the presenter’s post, they said: “Your mum looks great Ruth, but Maggie looks sad.” In response, Ruth fired back: “I don’t see that…she is a very happy, contented, much-loved dog.”

Other followers were also quick to agree with Ruth. “She’s literally smiling,” one said. Another commented: “I agree..she looks content and relaxed sitting close to your mum. Happy days,” while a third added: “Maggie looked bit hot, it was sunny, and we all know dogs won’t lay in the shade, they want their people near them.”
