Despite its less-than-inviting name, a stunning seaside village located a four-hour drive away from Nottingham has been dubbed one of the UK’s most affluent places to reside. In fact, with the average house prices soaring exceeding a breath-taking £2 million, West Itchenor in Sussex is known as one of the costliest coastal places to live in within the UK.

In a recent publication by The Telegraph, this quaint and charming village nestled in West Sussex and known for having a population of fewer than 350 citizens during the last census was described as one of the most upmarket locations in the country.

This archetypal English village comes complete with a high street peppered with cottages, a church, and a pond. With the area being synonymous with wealth, it’s hardly surprising that there exists a flourishing yachting community which congregates at the Itchenor Sailing Club located right by the waterfront.

Visitors have the option to traverse the region either by sea or foot, taking a ride on the Itchenor ferry which sails across to Smugglers Hart situated in Bosham. This coastal location makes for a perfect setting for outdoor enthusiasts, harboring a protected wetland area teeming with diverse birdlife, reports Birmingham Live.

Additionally, the village also plays host to a highly celebrated pub, The Ship Inn, which garners continuous praise from the local residents. As per one visiting enthusiast: “Fantastic dog-friendly pub in a great area for walks.”

Similarly, another echoed these sentiments by expressing: “Lovely spot, warm welcome.”

For those considering a trip to the region, it’s suggested to rent a small boat from the local hire service to fully appreciate the breathtaking wildlife and natural scenery. According to Rightmove, the average house price in this idyllic village was £2,020,000 over the past year.
