Two pedestrians were hospitalized in a “series of serious crashes” Saturday evening in downtown Boise.

The Boise Police Department shut down a stretch of Main Street and asked drivers to avoid a swath of downtown between Main and Idaho streets and 6th and 11th streets.

The “suspected driver” was located, the Boise Police Department said in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter. The adult male driver was taken to a hospital, BPD spokesperson Haley Williams told the Idaho Statesman.

The two hospitalized pedestrians were female adults, Williams said.

An Idaho Statesman journalist in the area saw a large SUV with dents along its side and long runs of caution tape around Main Street.

“Officers are investigating a series of serious crashes,” BPD said in the X post. “The suspected driver has been located and the investigation is ongoing. Two pedestrians were injured and taken to a local hospital. Anyone who was a witness, or whose vehicle was damaged, and who has not yet spoken with police is asked to call Ada County Dispatch at 208-377-6790.”

The incidents happened on the same night that the Twilight Criterium bike race had shut down a separate section of downtown roads, just to the north of the police investigation.
