Premature baby gorilla born at Texas zoo
STORY: Her mother, Sekani, a 33-year-old gorilla, was initially expected to deliver naturally in early to mid-February. However, complications arose when Sekani displayed symptoms of pre-eclampsia, a condition characterized by high blood pressure during pregnancy, common to both humans and primates.Despite the medical intervention, Sekani has displayed disinterest in reuniting with baby Jameela. Consequently, the 12-week-old infant has been relocated to Cleveland Metroparks Zoo, where potential surrogate gorilla mothers have shown a keen interest in caring for Jameela.
