Upmarket supermarket Waitrose has issued an urgent warning not to eat an item which is being recalled.

Anyone who was bought Waitrose own brand pitted Spanish Queen Olives with the best before December 2025 is being urged not to eat them and return them immediately because they may contain glass.

The recall notice was issued today, April 14, and is effective immediately.

The notice affects the 113g jars and the product is ‘unsafe to eat’.

Waitrose said: “Waitrose & Partners are recalling Waitrose Pitted Spanish Queen Olives because they may contain pieces of glass. The possible presence of glass makes this product unsafe to eat.

“Waitrose Pitted Spanish Queen Olives Drained 113g Brand: Waitrose Best Before End: DEC 2025

“Waitrose & Partners are recalling the above product. The company has issued a recall notice to its customers. These notices explain to customers why the product is being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the product. Please see the attached notice.

“If you have bought the above product do not eat it. Instead, return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund. For more information contact Waitrose customer care team on 0800 188 884, Option 4.”
