What we know about three missing children after day out at Thorpe Park

Three children are missing after a day out at Thorpe Park.

A 14-year-old girl named only as Khandi was with two younger children – Amelia, nine, and Malik, seven – at the theme park in Chertsey, Surrey, on Monday. They were reported missing at 7pm.

Here is what we know – and don’t know – about the missing children.

First, Surrey Police has given descriptions of the three children.

Khandi is Black, slim, 160cm tall, and was wearing black or grey jogging bottoms, a white top, white trainers, black framed glasses and multiple bracelets on each wrist.

Amelia has been described by police as “European”. She is 110cm tall, slim, and was wearing grey jogging bottoms, a grey long-sleeved top with “Believe” written on it and white trainers.

Malik, also described as “European” and also 110cm tall, slim and was wearing black jogging bottoms, black trainers, and a green long-sleeved top with stripes.

The force said Amelia and Malik are related.

We also know the children were last seen walking away from Thorpe Park towards Staines town centre – which is approximately a 45-minute walk away – at 3.17pm on Monday. It is believed they may have travelled to London.

We don’t know why the two younger children, Amelia and Malik, were with Khandi.

Meanwhile, we don’t know where the three children are from, or if they were with any adults. No mention of adults was made in Surrey Police’s press release.

And if any adults weren’t present, we don’t know how or why the two younger children, who are aged seven and nine, gained entry to the theme park.

Thorpe Park’s terms and conditions state: “No child or children under the age of 12 will be admitted to the attraction unless they are accompanied by an adult aged 18 years or over and such child or children whilst on site must remain under the control or supervision of an adult at all times.”

It adds: “Merlin reserves the right, in its absolute discretion, to change the age restrictions referred to in this condition, if any particular circumstances so require in the interests of safety and security.”
